Chocolate Chip cookies

A stack of chocolate chip cookes with barrel aged bitters by FreeWildShe

People ask all the time, “Are bitters only for cocktails?” The answer is no. They have many uses.

But replacing the vanilla in a chocolate chip cookie with Barrel Aged Aromatic Bitters has got to be one of my favorites!

Chocolate Chip Cookies
with Barrel Aged Aromatic Bitters

1 c butter, softened

1 c sugar

1 c golden brown sugar

2 eggs

1 T Barrel Aged Aromatic Bitters

2 c flour

1 t baking soda

1 t baking powder

1/2 t salt

2 c oatmeal

12 oz chocolate chips (+ extra because life’s too short)

Preheat the oven to 375.

Cream together butter and both sugars. Add eggs, one at a time. Add bitters and mix until combined.

In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Add half of the flour mix to the butter mix and slowly combine. Next add 1 cup of the oatmeal and slowly combine. Repeat with the rest of the flour mix and remaining oatmeal. Mix in chocolate chips by hand.

Form 2-3 T of dough into balls and place them evenly spaced on a cookie sheet. Bake 8-9 minutes. Let them sit for 2 minutes before removing to a cooling rack.

Enjoy!
