A LITTLE ABOUT ME

– I am a MAKER. I’ve always got a project in the works.

– I love the OUTDOORS. Hiking, camping, gardening, gathering wild things, picking flowers and sitting in the sun with a cocktail.

– We live on a FARM in DAYTON, OREGON and grow CIDER APPLES & PEARS.

– My favorite product is CARDAMOM BITTERS followed closely by CARDAMOM ROSE GREEN TEA. I may have a bit of an obsession with a certain exotic spice.

HOW FREEWILDSHE CAME TO BE

Several years ago, I decided I wanted to clean up my diet and learn how to get the most nutrition out of my food. I was introduced to the idea of herbs. Not just for flavor but for the vitamins, minerals and properties they can offer us for health. I learned that ‘herbs’ extended way past the culinary ones I was familiar with. Things that grow around us, weeds in the yard, foraged foods from the nearby forest, and herbs used traditionally as medicine all over the world. Leaves. Berries. Flowers. Roots.

The easiest way to get nutrition from herbs is to make a tea. How simple. This completely changed how I saw tea. Not just a beverage but a source of nutrition. An act of self care. I completely fell in love with creating tea blends from flowers, foraged finds, and plants I had previously called weeds.

From there it was only natural that I transitioned to making bitters. Tea is a water infusion. Bitters are an alcohol infusion. The alcohol is just another solvent to extract nutrition and beneficial properties out of plants.

I had been tossing around the idea about starting my own business. I was searching for something fulfilling and meaningful. A way to take control of my time and put energy towards doing something I totally loved.

As my creations started accumulating, I began gifting them to friends and family. With their suggestions, my husband’s encouragement, advice from a mentor to, ‘just start’, and the realization that there is only so much tea one can gift to their mother-in-law FREEWILDSHE was born.
