FreeWildShe Chocolate Chip Cookies
A nostalgic bake with a bittersweet twist from Barrel Aged Aromatic Bitters.
Some recipes feel like a memory. The hum of the mixer. The smell of butter browning in the oven. The secret thrill of licking the beaters when no one's watching (or maybe they are, but you're the baker, so you've earned it). This is that kind of recipe.
These FreeWildShe Chocolate Chip Cookies are rooting in those childhood bakes. Comforting, chewy, and just the right amount of indulgence. But there's a quiet twist here: instead of vanilla, I use a few dashes of Barrel Aged Aromatic Bitters.
That may sound unexpected, but stay with me. Bitters are deeply aromatic—layered with spice, citrus, oak—and they play the same role as vanilla in baking: background magic. They don't shout, but they bring everything else into sharper focus. The result is familiar but elevated. The kind of flavor that makes people go, "Wait, what's in these?"
This recipe started as an experiment. An answer to the question, "What else can I do with bitters?" And now, it's one of my favorite ways to show people that bitters don't belong solely in the glass. They belong in your kitchen, too.
Bake these when you need a moment of delight. When the day's been long and you want your house to smell like a memory.
And if you're wondering what else you can do with your bottle of Barrel Aged Bitters... well, that's the fun part. Trust your taste. You're only a few dashes away from something magical.
