Citrus Saffron Sparkler Cocktail Recipe

with Saffron Bitters

One of the best perks of my job? Getting to sip my way through some truly incredible spirits. Recently, I had the chance to attend an industry tasting at Brixeur Spirts, a small-batch distillery with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship. Their sister company, Trisaetum Winery, brings a winemaking touch to their process. And the result? Thoughtfully distilled spirits that highlight both tradition and innovation.

Before tasting our way through their lineup of vodka, gin, and whiskey, we were greeted with a bright, bubbly cocktail created by distiller Jackson Harloff. The Citrus Saffron Sparkler is a perfect balance of crisp citrus, floral bergamot, and the warm spice of Saffron Bitters. It's finished with a splash of bubbles for just the right amount of effervescence.

The secret to making it at home? A simple bergamot-infused vodka (don't worry, it's easier than it sounds) and a few dashes of Saffron Bitters which add a luxurious depth you won't get from anything else. Bonus: my Saffron Bitters are small-batch and limited—so if you want to recreate this stunning cocktail, grab yours before they're gone!

 

Citrus Saffron Sparkler

1 oz Brixeur Vodka, infused with Bergamot*
1/2 oz simple syrup**
1/4 oz lemon juice
3 dashes Saffron Bitters
Pashey Blanc de Blanc

 

*BERGAMOT-INFUSED BRIXEUR VODKA
Combine a handful of dried or fresh bergamot peels and half a bottle of Brixeur Vodka in a jar. Let them infuse for approximately 24 hours, then strain out the peels. (Substitute lemon or orange peels when bergamot isn't available.)

**SIMPLE SYRUP
Combine 1/2 c sugar and 1/2 c water in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Heat until sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally. Chill before using. Keep refrigerated.

 

Combine bergamot-infused vodka, syrup, lemon juice, and bitters in a shaker with ice. Shake until well chilled. Strain into a flute glass and top with Pashey Blanc de Blanc. Garnish with a fresh bergamot or lemon peel.
