Cardamom Coffee Spritzer Recipe
with Cardamom Bitters
It's time to come clean—I’ve always had a bit of a problem with the word mocktail. There, I said it.
Sure, it’s cute the way it rhymes but the word mock? It has such a negative vibe. And honestly, who wants to feel like their drink is pretending to be something else?
I know I’m not the only one—discussions about this pop up all over the place. What about you? How do you feel when you hear the word?
Here’s the thing: crafting a delicious drink, whether it’s a mocktail or not, is never about the label. It’s all about flavor, delight, and a little moment of care. It’s the time you take to mix something up for yourself or share it with a loved one. That’s what really matters.
So whatever you call it, I hope you take a moment today to treat yourself. Make something special—something you can sip slowly and savor.
Enjoy this low-alcohol recipe for dry January. Or days you want to drink something tasty, all day long, without the guilt.
Cardamom Coffee Spritzer
4 oz brewed coffee
1 oz simple syrup*
½ oz lemon juice
sparkling water
1-2 droppers Cardamom Bitters
Brew your coffee and let it come to room temp or chill it in the fridge. Add coffee, syrup, & lemon to a mixing glass and stir with ice until well chilled. Strain into an iced-filled collins glass. Add sparkling water to fill and top with Cardamom Bitters.
Start with one dropper and taste. If you want more cardamom, add another. (I'm a two-dropper girl, but you do you.)
*SIMPLE SYRUP
½ c sugar
½ c water
Heat sugar & water in a saucepan on medium-high until sugar is dissolved. Cool to room temp and store in the fridge.
I still haven’t figured out a replacement word for mocktail. Maybe it’s time I embrace it. Or maybe, I’ll just keep pondering it over my next drink.
Until then, enjoy mixing up something delightful. You’ve earned it!
